Troubleshooting

  • Why can’t I get suction when trying to vacuum?

There are a few different possible things that could be causing the lack of suction when trying to vacuum a pool.

The first is to make sure that you are purging all the air out of the vacuum hose before trying to connect into the skimmer. The quickest and easiest way is to hold the end of the hose (skimmer end) up against the return (jet) to push all the air out. Some folks just submerge the hose but that method isn’t always successful.

If that doesn’t solve the problem then you either would have an issue with the vacuum hose itself, or you are pulling in air somewhere between your skimmer and your pump.

A quick lubrication of the o-ring for the pump lid could be a possibility. If you have more than one skimmer then you will need to plug or block off one of them.

Another reason for little to no suction could be that your filter is dirty and you have no pressure in which case you need to backwash or clean your filter.

General

  • How much shock do I need for my pool?

For regular maintenance, the general rule of thumb is one gallon for every ten thousand gallons of pool water. If the water is cloudy and/or green then we may double, triple, or even quadruple that amount.

  • How long should I be running my pool pump?

The minimum run time required to keep your pool clean and clear is eight hours. As the season progresses and the weather gets warmer we recommend running closer to ten to twelve hours a day.

  • Do you offer swimming pool financing?

We are working with HFS for all pool financing. Please visit our Pool Financing page for more info.
